Governor Greg Abbott has announced a collaborative effort between the Texas Music Office (TMO), the City of Mansfield, Visit Mansfield, and the Mansfield Commission for the Arts. They will co-host a virtual workshop on November 13 to discuss the Music Friendly Texas Community initiative.

"Music is key to the Texas brand and to our local economies," stated Governor Abbott. He praised the TMO for its role in fostering partnerships and job creation across Texas. The music industry in Texas supports over 192,000 jobs and contributes more than $26 billion annually to the state's economy. Governor Abbott emphasized collaboration with local leaders, such as those in Mansfield, to provide communities with essential resources.

Gini Mascorro from TMO will participate in the workshop to elaborate on what it means to be a Music Friendly Texas Community and address any questions from attendees.

The Music Friendly Texas program was introduced by TMO in 2016 as a pioneering initiative nationwide. It aims to promote music industry development within certified communities. The upcoming workshop marks Mansfield's initial step towards certification. Upon completion, Mansfield will join over 65 other cities in Texas with this designation.

Musicians, venues, and members of the public are encouraged to attend online.
