The Texas Public Charter Schools Association (TPCSA) has announced that Dr. Rachelle Joseph-Beafneaux is the recipient of the Texas Public Charter Schools Leader of the Year award. According to TPCSA, she has transformed Ambassadors Preparatory Academy in Galveston into a U.S. Blue Ribbon School.
Dr. Joseph-Beafneaux serves as the Superintendent of Ambassadors Preparatory Academy, a non-profit, open-enrollment charter school in Galveston, Texas, which has been operational since 2007.
The mission of the Academy is "to provide high-quality education through student-centered, data-driven instructional practices in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that builds a foundation for life-long learning." When the school commenced operations in 2007, it had 69 students enrolled in grades 1 through 5. Since then, the institution has expanded to include Pre-K3 through 8th grade and currently maintains an average enrollment of 300 students.
In 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Education, Ambassadors Preparatory Academy was among the 31 schools in Texas that received the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award. For over four decades, this program has recognized top-performing schools nationwide and those making significant progress in closing achievement gaps.
The Texas Public Charter Schools Association is described as a Texas-based non-profit organization committed to ensuring "every child in Texas has access to a high-quality public school that will set them on the path to future success."
