ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has announced a proposed non-rule air quality standard permit for temporary concrete batch plants linked to public works projects. This initiative follows Senate Bill 1397 from the 88th Session, mandating TCEQ to issue such permits. The proposed permit includes conditions to ensure compliance with SB 1397 and the Texas Health and Safety Code, along with emission control requirements, best management practices, and recordkeeping mandates.

A hybrid public meeting will be held in Austin on December 6, 2024, at TCEQ's central office. Attendees can join in person or virtually via Microsoft Teams. Those wishing to provide oral comments virtually must register by December 4, 2024. Registration requires emailing Rules@tceq.texas.gov with personal details and intent to comment.

For special accommodations or translation services at the meeting, contact Michael Wilhoit of the Air Permits Division or TCEQ's designated numbers in advance.

The comment period for this proposal is open from November 1 until December 6, 2024. Written comments can be submitted through TCEQ’s Public Comments system or mailed to Gwen Ricco at the Office of Legal Services. The proposal details are available on TCEQ’s Air Permit page.
