Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the next Governor’s Small Business Summit will take place in Sweetwater on October 31, 2024. These summits are organized throughout the year across Texas to assist small business owners and entrepreneurs by providing them with necessary resources and information for starting, strengthening, and growing their businesses.

“Everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes our small businesses,” stated Governor Abbott. “With over 3 million small businesses employing nearly half of the Texas workforce, Texas remains a top state for small business job growth. Texas offers opportunities and partnership for businesses of all sizes to grow and succeed. I invite Texas' small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs to attend a Governor’s Small Business Summit. Together, we will build a bigger, better Texas.”

The summit in Sweetwater aims to bring together local, state, and federal resource partners who will provide insights on essential business topics. Participants will have the chance to network with other business owners and meet experts offering advice on various subjects relevant to small businesses.

The event is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at The Student Center at Texas State Technical College – Sweetwater. Topics covered include marketing and social media engagement for small businesses, state and regional resources available for small enterprises, access to finance and funding opportunities, along with a keynote address by Holly Betenbough of Betenbough Companies.

Registration costs $20, which includes access to all sessions, resource providers, lunch, and complimentary headshots. Interested parties can register through gov.texas.gov/events.

Future summits are planned for November 14 in Wichita Falls with a focus on veterans and December 5 in Kaufman. Additional details can be found on the same website.

In addition to these summits, the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office alongside the Office of Small Business Assistance also conducts webinars aimed at sharing resources with small businesses online. Recordings of past webinars are accessible at gov.texas.gov/business/page/small-business-webinars.
