Last month, upstream oil and natural gas employment in Texas increased by 800 jobs, surpassing the figures recorded in August. This information comes from new data provided by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and received by the Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA).
According to an October 18 press release issued by TXOGA, these figures represent growth in five out of nine months so far this year, marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase.
TXOGA President Todd Staples commented on the job growth in September, describing it as welcome news amidst global economic challenges, international conflicts, and domestic uncertainties. "Texas remains the production powerhouse for America and the innovation center for energy growth and improvement," Staples said.
The release also highlighted that since September 2020, when employment hit a low due to COVID-19 impacts, there have been more months with increases in upstream oil and gas employment than decreases—37 compared to 11. The upstream sector primarily involves oil and natural gas extraction.
