Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas executive director Wilkison announces retirement

Charley Wilkison, Executive Director of the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT), has announced his retirement effective December 31, 2024. This decision marks the conclusion of Wilkison's three-decade-long association with CLEAT, which began in August 1994. He took on the role of executive director in July 2013.

Wilkison expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve, stating he was always honored to serve "Texas's Finest." He further said, "I’m grateful I had this opportunity to continue service to Texas in such a meaningful way."

According to CLEAT President Marvin Ryals, Wilkison's influence on the organization significantly advanced officer employment rights during challenging political times.

The press release also said that on October 10, the CLEAT Executive Board appointed Robert Leonard as the new executive director. Leonard, who has been with CLEAT for two decades, will take over upon Wilkison's retirement. Leonard expressed his honor at being selected for the position.
