Chris Powers, CEO of Fort Capital and host of The Fort podcast, said the U.S. economy offers everything from strong infrastructure and border trade to a growing population, Fortune 500 relocations, advanced medical systems in Houston, space industry growth, and a booming oil and gas sector. Powers was a guest on a recent episode of the Texas Talks Podcast.
“I think we live in arguably one of the best economies, if not the best economy, in the world," said Powers on a recent edition of the Texas Talks Podcast. “We have rail; we have a great port. We have border trade with Mexico. Just from a goods-in and out, manufacturing, and jobs perspective, we have a lot to be said there. We have a relatively low cost of living, although that's gone up more in the last decade as more people have moved in.”
“We have people moving in from all over the country, not just individuals; Fortune 500 companies are moving into Austin, DFW, and Houston," said Powers. “Houston has one of the best medical systems in the world, and there is a lot coming in there. We have NASA and SpaceX and a lot of what's going on in space, which has become a much bigger deal over the last decade. We have a great, flourishing oil and gas industry, with the Permian Basin arguably the most prolific oil and gas producer in the country.”
Powers is the founder and CEO of Fort Capital, a real estate investment firm that has managed over $2.1 billion in property deals across Texas, Tennessee, and Florida. He also hosts The Fort podcast, where he shares insights from entrepreneurs aimed at helping listeners improve their business skills.
