Lieutenant Game Warden Aaron Sims, a public information officer for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, said his interest in the outdoors began in elementary school and led him to earn a bachelor's degree and secure a game warden position. Sims was a guest on a recent episode of the Texas Talks Podcast.
“That started with me as well, in elementary school," said Sims on a recent edition of the Texas Talks Podcast. “I wasn't so much an avid hunter or fisherman at the time. I love the outdoors; I love hiking and just pursued that through school. I got my bachelor's degree and was fortunate enough to land a job as a Texas game warden.”
“If you ask every game warden, they're going to have their own interesting tale," said Sims. “That's where it started for me: sixth grade, talking to a game warden, and developing my love for the outdoors, especially through research in college. I was fortunate enough to get hired by Texas Parks and Wildlife. The hiring process, which we'll get into maybe a little later, is very extensive and highly competitive.”
Lieutenant Game Warden Sims serves as a public information officer for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, which aims to manage and conserve Texas's natural and cultural resources. The department also provides hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation opportunities for the enjoyment of the community.
