Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) have announced the participation of the Texas wine industry in the global Come Over October campaign. This initiative coincides with Texas Wine Month, celebrated every October. With approximately 500 wineries across Texas, residents are encouraged to enjoy and share local wines with family and friends.
“The Texas wine industry is woven into our state’s culture, mixing our proud agricultural roots with the bold, lively spirit of our local winemakers,” said Commissioner Miller. “With the wine industry contributing more than $20 billion to our state’s economy, it’s clear that wine and grapes create a powerful connection between rural and urban communities. From the Hill Country to the High Plains, our wineries serve up big flavors and even bigger welcomes, making every visit a chance to build friendships and create memories that last a lifetime.”
The Come Over October campaign is led by TDA's Uncork Texas Wines program and supported by various organizations including the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association, Texas Hill Country Wineries, Texas Wine Growers, and Texas Fine Wine. The initiative aims to promote community engagement through wine-related activities.
“We all know that good company, good conversation, laughter, and conviviality contribute to an enhanced lifestyle,” said Karen MacNeil, wine authority, author of The Wine Bible, and organizer of Come Over October.
Texans are invited to purchase their favorite local wines and host gatherings at home or visit nearby wineries. Participants can share photos on social media using hashtags #ComeOverOctober and #ComeOnOverYall for a chance to win prizes throughout October.
Further details about special winery tastings and promotions will be announced soon.
