The public comment window for the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) draft of the 2025 Unified Transportation Program (UTP) is slated to end on August 5. The plan, which TxDOT described as "record-breaking," comes with a price tag of $104 billion.
A press release attributed to TxDOT said that 2024 is the second consecutive year that the UTP plan goes beyond $100 billion.
According to the release, the UTP will assist with the development of projects around Texas to improve safety, address congestion and connectivity, and preserve roadways.
TxDOT Executive Director Marc Williams said in the release that collaborating with transportation partners and communities connects with the public while prioritizing safety, delivery, innovation, and stewardship.
TxDOT has hosted two public meetings on the UTP. According to the department, there are different ways to comment as provided on the UTP Public Involvement webpage.
The release said that the Texas Transportation Commission (TTC) approves the UTP every year in accordance with state law at its August commission meeting and publishes it on TxDOT’s website.
