Fourteen Texas school district boards of trustees have been selected as regional nominees for the 2024 TASA School Board Awards. The nominees for the 2024 Outstanding School Board of the Year include both small and large district categories, based on student population.

Texas school superintendents who are TASA members and meet specific criteria may nominate their boards of trustees for these awards. Committees comprising TASA members, organized by Texas’ regional education service centers, review the nominations. They select up to two school boards for state-level consideration: one from a small district (fewer than 1,000 students) and one from a large district (1,000 or more students).

The TASA School Board Awards Committee will convene virtually in late July to choose up to five nominated boards to be recognized as Honor Boards. These finalists will be interviewed in San Antonio at txEDCON24 TASA | TASB Convention on September 27. The announcement of the 2024 Outstanding School Board will occur during the general session later that day.

Established in 1971, the TASA School Board Awards Program aims to recognize the dedication and service of school boards that positively impact Texas schoolchildren.
