The Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) announced that Dr. Reo Pruiett has been appointed as Chief Programs & Engagement Officer. The organization—with offices in Dallas, Austin, and Harlingen—created this new role as part of its plan to restructure the programmatic operations of Educate Texas.

According to a CFT press release, as Chief Programs & Engagement Officer, Pruiett will oversee all Educate Texas programs dedicated to improving outcomes for the state's K-12 and higher education students. In addition, she will serve as a liaison between Educate Texas and CFT’s shared support services, which span HR, Communications, Finance, and Analytics.

The press release states that Pruiett has been on CFT’s Educate Texas team since 2008. In her previous roles, she led the statewide College and Career Readiness School Models (CCRSM) initiative and oversaw the Dallas Southern Sector district-wide portfolio. In 2022, she became the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Officer. Pruiett also currently manages the organization’s campaign to strengthen equity externally as well as within CFT.

"I have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact this work has on first-generation, underrepresented, and low-income students, leading to significant outcomes that prepare students to compete in a global society," Pruiett was quoted as stating in a press release. "I am thrilled to collaborate closely with the Educate Texas staff and partners in this new capacity to deliver impactful programs that empower students to realize their dreams and contribute to a thriving Texas."

According to the press release, Pruiett obtained a Bachelor of Science from Lane College and a Doctor of Education from Union University. Prior to her employment at CFT, she filled numerous roles including teacher, mentor educator, science specialist, vice principal, principal, and district director.
