The Texas Public Policy Foundation has expressed its appreciation for Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's actions to safeguard female-only spaces and organizations in Texas.

The announcement comes in response to the recent federal rule proposed by the Department of Education, which would mandate schools receiving federal funding to permit individuals identifying as women into areas designated for females.

Governor Abbott's stance against the new rule was clear as he instructed the Texas Education Agency to disregard it, citing concerns about the overreach of presidential authority in including "gender identity" in Title IX.

Attorney General Paxton took it a step further by initiating legal action to challenge the rule, arguing that it distorts the original purpose and meaning of Title IX.

TPPF CEO Greg Sindelar said, "the purpose of Title IX is to ensure women have the same rights and opportunities as men to go to school, compete in athletics, obtain financial assistance, and other measures." Sindelar also highlighted the state's commitment to defending women's sports and safeguarding women's private spaces, expressing support for the decisive actions taken by Texas elected officials.

In response to the actions of Abbott and Paxton, Sindelar stated, "Texans will not allow this rule to stand... We are thrilled Texas’ leaders are aggressively pushing back and we will do everything we can to support this effort."
