Governor Greg Abbott praised the Texas National Guard for their dedication and service to the state during the 65th annual National Guard Association of Texas (NGAT) Conference held March 21-24 in Round Rock.

“To serve your country, to put your life on the line for your fellow man, is to answer a higher calling,” Abbot said.

The Governor’s address referenced the diverse roles Texas National Guard's personnel fulfill, from overseas deployments to responding to natural disasters and securing the state's border.

Governor Abbott acknowledged the courage and commitment of each member, saying, “Whether it is a war zone overseas, responding to a natural disaster here at home, or securing our border, each member of the Texas National Guard shows true courage, dedication, and a strong desire to protect their fellow Texan."

Abbott expressed gratitude for the Texas National Guard's involvement in Operation Lone Star, a mission that has been ongoing for over three years. He thanked the guardsmen and women for their bravery, dedication, and service to the state.

National Guard Association of Texas President Mireya Cruz also participated in the NGAT conference, along with Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of the National Guard Bureau SEA Tony Whitehead, Mayor of Round Rock Craig Morgan, and other military and state leaders.

NGAT, established in 1959, advocates for the interests of the Texas National Guard and its members.
