Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT) Executive Director Charley Wilkison said Texans are feeling increasingly unsafe due to increasing crime rates.

“I once had a poll and asked the public ‘do you believe that you will be a victim of a crime in the next 12 months?’,” said Wilkison on a recent edition of the Texas Talks Podcast. “75% of the people there had a fear of crime”

"Officers work on two bases,” said Wilkison. “You need them there for the real crime but you also need them there to make you feel safe.”

Charley Wilkison has been working for CLEAT since 1994. There he serves as the Executive Director and Chief Lobbyist. Before coming to CLEAT, he gained political experience through the US Congress, Texas Senate and Texas House of Representatives. He has a degree in Political Science from Texas A&M.
