The election process for the 2024 TASA (Texas Association of School Administrators) Executive Committee positions representing even-numbered regions is currently underway. According to the latest announcement, nine members have expressed their intention to seek re-election, while one member is ineligible to run again as they will complete their second two-year term on May 31, 2024.
The members who have notified the TASA office of their intent to seek re-election are as follows:
- Sharon McKinney, Port Aransas ISD, representing Region 2.
- Walter Jackson, La Porte ISD, representing Region 4.
- Darol Hail, New Waverly ISD, representing Region 6.
- Jason McCullough, Mount Vernon ISD, representing Region 8.

- Sheri Blankenship, Hereford ISD, representing Region 16.
- Jay McWilliams, Big Spring ISD, representing Region 18.
- Burnie Roper, Lackland ISD, representing Region 20.
However, one member, David Young from Abilene ISD, representing Region 14, will be vacating their position as of June 1, 2024, as they have completed their second two-year term and are therefore ineligible for re-election.
The nomination process for the TASA Executive Committee elections follows the guidelines outlined in the 2024 Executive Committee Election Operating Procedures. Candidates can either initiate their own petition or be nominated by any TASA member in their respective region. To be eligible for nomination, the nominee must be a "paid up" TASA member and have given permission for their name to be put forward as a candidate.
To obtain the petition form, interested individuals can contact Ann Roland at TASA headquarters via email at aroland@tasanet.org or by phone at 512.852.2102. The completed petitions must be supported by signatures from TASA members in the region who belong to either the Active Membership Category or the College + University + Agency Membership Category. The number of signatures required should total 15 percent of eligible voters in the region during the prior membership year (2022-23), with a minimum requirement of five signatures.
All completed petitions, containing the required number of signatures, must be submitted to the TASA executive director no later than February 15, 2024.
