Texas' DPS announced the graduation of their canine dogs from its rigorous Canine Program

Texas Public Safety Department has announced that a K-9 team, as part of the DPS of Texas, graduated from the canine training program. The said graduation represents another step forward in maintaining peace and security across the state.

Firstly, it's important to understand the organization the dogs are part of. According to Texas Department of Safety, the organization the canines are a part of is Texas's highway patrol. The patrol is responsible for supervision of criminals and law enforcement. The main goal of the patrol is to instill and uphold peace among citizens of Texas.

Moving on to their functions, these patrols are involved in diverse operations. According to Texas Department of Safety, the patrol performs many tasks under the umbrella of law enforcement. These include tactical marine patrol, emergency response, crowd management, and keeping Texas roads clear and safe.

Lastly, let us focus on this remarkable achievement by our K-9 unit. According to the Texas Department of Safety, this achievement by the canines was monumental. As DPS Director Steven McCraw reported it, "It’s a strong bond these teams share and one that will be tested as they work to protect their fellow Texans. I’m confident they will make a positive impact in the communities they serve." The program is rigorous indeed, requiring the teams to run 70 tracks of varying difficulty with over 200 exercises for training drug detection.
