Eleanor Bangle, a senior guard on the Austin High School girl's basketball team, is a star on and off the court.
Before helping the team secure a playoff 53-37 playoff win, Bangle dazzled fans of both sides with her stirring rendition of the national anthem, KVUE reported.
"We ready…Sang (sic) Eleanor!" -- the team tweeted.
Instead of joining her teammates in line for the traditional singing of the "Star Spangled Banner" before tip-off, Bangle reached for the mic and led the crowd in what's been a tradition at American sporting events at all levels for many years, the station reported.
The Maroons' Twitter account shared the video, which has logged more than 1,000 views. Austin High continued its quest for the state title with 70-48 win over San Antonio Brandeis, Express News reported.
Austin High Lady Maroons had a regular season record of 13-1, winning the 25-6A district championship for the second year in a row. During the season, Junior Shanel Reid reached 1000 points and 500 rebounds as a Maroon. Sadie Swift, a senior, reached her 500th rebound this season.
