The Innovative Teachers of Texas (ITT) is dedicated to serving teachers while providing its members the best value without a political agenda.
ITT prides itself on being for educators and by educators, stressing the importance of using their passion to teach students.
Compared to other professional associations, ITT has lower fees – $120 per year – while other associations cost as much as $530 annually.
ITT is not union-affiliated and is teachers-only, excluding education administrators whose interests may not align with those of educators. ITT holds more liability insurance than its competitors and does not donate to political action committees (PACs).
The professional organization differs from others which have expensive dues, are closely-affiliated with national unions and have political agendas that aren't always in sync with teachers' and students' interests. Based on the comparison of ITT and other competitors, ITT offers the best value for professional protection for Texas educators.
ITT began after a growing number of educators became "unsatisfied with the systems in place that stifle the creativity of professional educators," the website states.
"We believe the time has come to return the focus to the classroom where it belongs," the site says. "Our mission is to seek the kinds of changes which will better empower teachers to build the classrooms and schools of tomorrow."
ITT strives to promote professionalism and excellence in Texas classrooms. Its goal is to provide educators with a choice free from union influence and empowering to educators.
"Our unique value is that we support teachers as individuals and give them an alternative voice to connect with other professionals and with policy leaders directly," the website states. "We inspire educators to be confident in their own knowledge and intuition in caring and teaching their students."
Innovative Teachers of Texas stresses that it won't preach to teachers or tell them how to vote, but that it wants to provide information so that teachers can always make their own choices.
