Texas has welcomed more than 6,000 new residents via Atlas Van Lines over the past year, ranking the Lone Star State second overall in the company's moving destinations for 2019.
As initially reported in Dallas Morning News, Texas recorded at least 6,300 inbound moves via Atlas from across the United States, placing the state above Florida and Washington State. The annual survey placed California as the top state for Atlas moves last year.
“Texas registered its highest percentage of inbound moves in the U.S. since 2015,” an Atlas Van Lines representative told the Dallas Morning News.
The increase in moves from 2018 to 2019 was the first Texas experienced in two years, according to the report.
New York was the state with the most outbound moves in the Atlas rankings, a title they also previously obtained in 2014.
A strong business environment also allowed Texas to once again secure the top spot on Allied Van Lines' annual report on work-related moves. Data shows than more than 55 percent of Texas' business growth was due to people moving into the state.
“Texas, with its business-friendly climate, has ranked as the top move destination for Allied corporate customers for the last six years,” Allied Van Lines said in the study. “The high influx of corporations moving to Texas makes it a highly desirable destination for top talent.”
The company named Houston and Austin as cities with the best business markets in the state.
Allied Van Lines ranked Texas above California, Arizona and North Carolina as top places to move to for its customers, but behind Florida.
An additional Yardi Systems report on the most popular state to move to in 2018 concluded that out of 700,000 people who left California, at least 86,000 of them settled in Texas. With roughly 564,000 new residents, Texas placed second on the Yardi report.
