The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has announced the winners of the 2025 Take Care of Texas Kids Art Contest. This annual event encourages students from kindergarten through fifth grade to create artwork reflecting how they contribute to environmental preservation. This year's theme focused on methods to maintain clean air.
Out of more than 4,300 entries, three students have been awarded new laptops for their submissions. The winners include Nora Cheng, a first-grader at Bernice Kiker Elementary in Austin, Olivia Huang, a third-grader from Greenhill School in Dallas, and Eirene Seo, a fifth-grader at Bluebonnet Elementary in Flower Mound.
Additionally, three runners-up will receive iPads for their efforts. The runners-up are Riana Sarkar, a first-grader at Minett Elementary in Frisco, Avery Azcarate, a third-grader from Escontrias STEAM Academy in El Paso, and Prateeti Saha, a fifth-grader at Carroll Elementary in Frisco.
Whitney Nolen, an art teacher at Hughes Springs Elementary, submitted 403 entries, earning her the title of this year's winning teacher. She will be given an iPad or a gift card of similar value.
The creations by these talented students can be viewed on the Take Care of Texas website. The prizes were provided by the contest's sponsor, the Texas Chemistry Council.
