The Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center in Liberty, Texas, will host its annual Family History Day on Saturday, May 31, 2025. The event, organized by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC), is designed for genealogists at all skill levels. The session will occur from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, focusing on the use of maps and land records in genealogical research.
Professional genealogist Teri E. Flack will conduct a session on utilizing maps for exploring ancestral lives and employing property records to trace lineage. TSLAC staff will also provide an overview of essential map and land records available digitally and at TSLAC's Austin and Liberty locations. After the seminar, participants can engage with TSLAC reference staff and explore research within the center's collections.

The Sam Houston Center serves as the official regional historical resource depository for ten Southeast Texas counties, including Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, and Tyler. The center's mission is to collect, preserve, and provide access to historically significant state and local government records and publications from the designated region and to serve as a repository for Texana and genealogical resources.
