WESLACO, Texas — A recent incident involving an unexpected reptilian visitor turned a roadside location in Weslaco into a point of intrigue. An alligator, measuring over six feet, was discovered in a storm drain near the FM 1015 and Camino de Verdad intersection.

David Cano, a TxDOT construction inspector, remarked, "I was really surprised to see an alligator like that. Reptile eyes with slits. The sun was peering through, and you could barely see. It was exciting!” Cano became aware of the alligator after visiting a nearby work site and promptly contacted local animal control and the game warden for assistance.

The South Padre Island Birding, Nature Center, and Alligator Sanctuary eventually stepped in to safely remove the alligator, which was subsequently named "Stormy" as a nod to her unusual location. After her removal, Stormy was relocated to the safety of the alligator sanctuary.
