Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller expressed his unwavering support for President Trump's recent announcement of new tariffs. According to Miller, "President Trump doesn’t often hold back—and yesterday was no exception." He emphasized that these tariffs are a decisive measure to ensure that American farmers, ranchers, and producers are protected from unfair trade practices.
Miller explained that the objective is to overturn long-standing one-sided agreements and secure equitable deals for all sectors of the U.S. economy, not just agriculture. He stated, "The goal is clear: to reverse decades of one-sided agreements and secure fair, equitable deals for all U.S. industries—not just agriculture."
Despite acknowledging the short-term difficulties that the agricultural community may face, Miller underscored the importance of achieving "lasting, fair agreements that protect the American farmer." He reassured the public that President Trump has vowed not to leave small farmers behind, especially with the support of Secretary Brooke Rollins and the USDA.
Miller concluded with optimism about the future, expressing confidence that the administration will continue to provide farmers and ranchers with the necessary resources to overcome the challenges, saying, "There is a long battle ahead of us, and in the end, America’s farmers and ranchers will win."
