The Texas Senate has passed several significant bills addressing various issues, including religious expression in schools, content in school libraries, and the regulation of THC products.

Senator Phil King announced the passage of SB 10, which allows the Ten Commandments to be displayed in Texas public school classrooms. "Few documents in the history of Western civilization and in American history have had a larger impact on our moral and legal code, and our culture, than the Ten Commandments," he said.

SB 11 was also passed to allow time for prayer or reading religious texts in schools with consent from students and educators. This measure aims to restore religious liberty without interfering with instructional time.

The Senate addressed concerns over drag queen story hours by passing SB 18, which prohibits state funding for libraries that facilitate such events. "These politically, ideologically driven programs have no place in our public libraries," King said.

SB 13 focuses on removing inappropriate content from school libraries by involving parents more directly in book selection processes. It establishes advisory councils to ensure transparency and appropriateness of library materials.

To combat THC abuse, SB 3 was passed with strong support from law enforcement and parents. The bill bans any amount of THC in consumable products sold in Texas while preserving doctor-prescribed treatments under the Compassionate Use Program.

SB 12 introduces a Parental Bill of Rights strengthening parental authority over children's education and medical treatment. It includes provisions against Critical Race Theory and mandates parental consent for various educational aspects.

In response to increasing electricity demands, SB 6 was introduced to improve grid reliability as demand is expected to rise significantly by 2030.

SB 17 seeks to protect Texas land from ownership by entities from countries hostile to the U.S., such as Russia, North Korea, Iran, and China.

Additionally, Senator King recognized World Down Syndrome Day with a resolution emphasizing improved support systems for people with disabilities. Dr. Gene Getz was honored for his contributions as a spiritual leader during his visit as Chaplain of the Day for the Texas Senate.
