Texas sees relief as egg and energy prices drop

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has expressed approval of recent decreases in egg and energy prices, attributing the changes to policy actions by President Donald Trump and USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins. According to USDA data, the price of large white shell eggs has dropped to $6.85 per dozen, a reduction of $1.20 since February 28 and a 33% decrease from its peak.

Commissioner Miller praised the administration's focus on addressing rising egg prices, which had led major restaurant chains like Waffle House to impose surcharges due to financial strain. "I commend President Trump and USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins for acknowledging this critical issue impacting both producers and American consumers, making it a top priority," he stated. He also acknowledged egg producers for their biosecurity measures that have helped stabilize the industry.

Inflation rates have slowed more than expected, with the consumer price index rising by 2.8% year-over-year in February, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is lower than January's 3% annual rate increase. The decline in inflation is partly attributed to falling energy costs.

Despite increased travel demand during spring break, gas prices have decreased across the U.S., with averages dropping below $3 per gallon in 31 states according to AAA data—the lowest national average since 2021. These reductions are helping lower costs in agriculture, transportation, and shipping sectors.

"I believe this positive trend will continue as this administration stays committed to reversing the damage caused by inflationary Bidenomics," said Commissioner Miller. "It was high time someone rolled up their sleeves and did something for America after years of the Biden administration’s failure to tackle this economic crisis."

Director of Communications Maddison Jaureguito confirmed these developments.
