Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has announced that schools across Texas will observe National School Breakfast Week from March 3-7, with the theme "Clue In To School Breakfast." The initiative aims to highlight the benefits of students consuming a nutritious breakfast provided through the National School Breakfast Program. Each day, approximately 1.6 million breakfasts are served to students in partnership with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) and school nutrition teams.
Commissioner Miller emphasized the importance of a healthy breakfast for children's academic performance. "Eating a healthy breakfast at school can have a big impact on children’s attendance, test scores, and overall academic success," he stated. He encouraged students to participate by starting their day with a school breakfast during the celebration week.
This year, TDA has enhanced its resources by making them available online. Schools can access various materials such as a Do-It-Yourself Celebration Guide, an activity kit, a marketing toolkit, and coloring sheets at SquareMeals.org/SBW. These resources align with this year's mystery-themed motif aimed at engaging students with nutritious and appealing school breakfast options.
