Governor Abbott appoints members to Texas acupuncture board

Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Ahmed Sheikh, D.O., and the reappointment of Elisabeth “Ellee” Carlson, D.A.O.M., and Sheri Davidson to the Texas State Board of Acupuncture Examiners. Ahmed Sheikh, based in Frisco, serves as the program director at Texoma Medical Center Family Medicine Residency. He is affiliated with both the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from the State University of New York College at Geneseo and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Elisabeth “Ellee” Carlson operates as an acupuncturist and owns Southwest Acupuncture Clinic in Garland. She holds membership with the Texas Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Her academic credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Integrative Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master’s degree in Acupuncture from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, and a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Pacific College in San Diego.

Sheri Davidson is an acupuncturist and health coach located in Houston. She owns Element5 Acupuncture and Wellness. She is also associated with the Texas Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, previously partaking as a member with Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, she volunteers for Athletes with Disabilities. Davidson's educational achievements include a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from the University of Houston, a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from Austin's Academy of Oriental Medicine, along with an Integrative Health Coach Certification from Duke Integrative Medicine.
