Texas collaborates with Trump Administration on border security operations

Governor Greg Abbott, alongside the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas National Guard, is collaborating with the Trump Administration to enhance border security. This initiative aims to curb drug, weapon, and human smuggling into Texas and address transnational criminal activities at border entry points.

Operation Lone Star has been a key part of these efforts, resulting in over 531,300 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 50,800 criminal arrests. Additionally, Texas law enforcement has seized over 624 million lethal doses of fentanyl as part of this mission.

The state's initiatives have reportedly reduced illegal crossings by over 90%. As a result, fewer migrants require transportation to sanctuary cities. Since the inception of Texas' transportation program, significant numbers of migrants have been transported to various U.S. cities including Washington D.C., New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, and Los Angeles.

Governor Abbott recently met with U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan in Washington D.C. to discuss ongoing collaboration with the Trump Administration on border security. Governor Abbott has issued five Executive Orders directing state agencies to support federal efforts and has deployed tactical teams for enhanced security operations.

Photos shared by Governor Abbott on X show his meeting with the Texas Congressional Delegation discussing Operation Lone Star's success and continued cooperation with federal authorities.

In his State of the State Address earlier this month, Governor Abbott emphasized Operation Lone Star's achievements since its launch in 2021 as a response to what he describes as a crisis created by previous federal policies.

Recent operations under Operation Lone Star include a DPS trooper seizing 34 pounds of narcotics in Webb County during a traffic stop. The Texas National Guard also seized a boat used for smuggling immigrants across the Rio Grande River near Shelby Park.

A drone team from the Texas National Guard deterred 12 migrants from crossing into Texas by identifying their attempt via sUAS technology and coordinating with riverine units to repel them back to Mexico.

In Roma, coordinated efforts between the Texas National Guard, DPS, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection were highlighted by Command Sergeant Major Dale Williams who described it as an honor to participate in securing the border under Governor Abbott's orders.

The Texas National Guard remains committed to supporting local and federal partners in maintaining border security operations.
