The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) has expressed approval of President Trump's executive order that bans federal funding and support for physical and hormonal gender reassignment procedures for minors. The organization argues that children dealing with mental health issues have been misled by certain medical professionals and activists into believing that such procedures could relieve their distress, resulting in lasting harm.
TPPF has conducted research to highlight the dangers of these practices and to support legislative efforts in Texas aimed at prohibiting them.
Andrew Brown, TPPF’s Vice President of Policy, stated, “It’s heartening to see President Trump call this what it is: mutilation.” He added, “Texas led the way on banning this horrific practice for minors last session, and we’re grateful to the President for bringing the full weight of the federal government to bear against a radical ideology masquerading as medical science.”
