The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced the arrest of three individuals from the state's list of 10 Most Wanted. The apprehended fugitives include Christopher Garay, Johnny Wilson, and Michael Petterson.

Christopher Joshua Garay, aged 35, was arrested on November 29 in San Antonio. His capture was a result of efforts by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and DPS Special Agents, among others. Garay had been wanted since January 2024 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following his release on parole in 2018.

Johnny Leon Wilson, aged 54, was taken into custody on December 2 in Grand Prairie. His arrest involved multiple law enforcement agencies including the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force and local police departments. Wilson had been evading authorities since February 2023 after a warrant was issued for murder.

Michael Wayne Petterson, aged 55 and classified as a high-risk sex offender, was arrested on November 27 in Dayton. The operation included DPS Special Agents and Troopers alongside members of the U.S. Marshals Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force. Petterson faced charges for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements since November 2023.

Crime Stoppers rewards will be distributed for tips leading to the arrests of Garay and Wilson. Funded by the Governor’s Public Safety Office, Crime Stoppers provides cash rewards for information that results in capturing individuals from Texas’ Most Wanted lists.

In total, DPS reports that so far this year they have captured 44 individuals from these lists with $32,000 paid out in rewards.

The public is advised not to attempt capturing any fugitives themselves as they are considered armed and dangerous.
