Dallas-Fort Worth-area Texas State Representative Brian Harrison (R-Midlothian) has introduced a bill ahead of the 2025 legislative session, aiming to abolish regulations that have not undergone review.

In a November 12 Tweet, Harrison said that House Bill (HB) 404 would "rein in the administrative state in Texas."

Harrison, a former chief of staff at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, expressed concerns about regulatory burdens. He emphasized that citizens "must not be burdened by regulations issued by a single bureaucrat, which carry the full force of law but were never voted on by any elected official if their conformity to statutes and benefits cannot be regularly reviewed and justified."

The representative further noted, "If state agencies are unwilling to review the necessity of their regulations on my constituents, they should not have to live under them."
