Governor Greg Abbott highlighted Texas' job training programs during a visit to Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in Waco. He emphasized the importance of these programs for Texans seeking high-demand jobs and their positive impact on the state's manufacturing sector. This event coincided with National Manufacturing Day, which celebrates the role of manufacturing in the economy.

"Tomorrow is National Manufacturing Day, where we celebrate the huge impact that manufacturing has on our economy," Governor Abbott stated. "'Made in Texas' has never been a bigger brand. Thanks to our strong manufacturing sector and partnerships with Texas State Technical College, Texas continues to offer career and technical skills training so graduates can go into high-demand, good-paying jobs."

Governor Abbott also announced a job training grant exceeding $179,000 awarded to TSTC earlier this year. This grant provided customized healthcare industry training for 100 new and incumbent employees at Hendrick Health System. Additionally, he shared an inspiring story about a woman who transitioned from homelessness to homeownership through job training, now earning more than the Governor himself.

Joining Governor Abbott at the press conference were TSTC Chancellor Mike Reeser, Texas Association of Manufacturers Workforce Chair Martha Landwehr, state officials, and local business leaders. Earlier in the week, Governor Abbott had proclaimed September 30 through October 4 as Manufacturing Week in Texas.
