Texas State Rep. David Spiller said he carried and passed HB 4 and SB 4, the strongest border security bills in state and national history, and remains committed to addressing border security and foreign land ownership issues due to his experience as a practicing attorney. Spiller was a guest on a recent episode of the Texas Talks podcast.

“I carried this past session HB 4 and passed in the first, and second and passed SB 4, which I think is the strongest border security bill in the history of our state, and the history of our nation," said Spiller on a recent edition of the Texas Talks Podcast. “I've been very involved in border security; I'd like to continue to do whatever we need there. What we do depends on who wins the presidential race in November. But assuming President Trump does, there are some things that we can still do here in Texas to function better and to do what we need to do.”

“Border security is still a big issue,” said Spiller. “The foreign ownership of land issue is big for me. I covered Bill HB 4006 last session. I thought it best met the needs of what we needed to do, and I felt like I was the person to carry that because I understand the issues very, very well, being a practicing attorney, and doing a lot of contested real estate matters.”

Spiller, a conservative Republican representing Texas House District 68, has practiced law for over 35 years at Spiller & Spiller, now alongside his two sons. He has served as city attorney for Jacksboro and general counsel for the Jack County Hospital District for over 30 years and is a credentialed advanced mediator.
