Texas Nuclear Alliance to host inaugural Texas Nuclear Summit in November

The Texas Nuclear Alliance (TNC) announced that it will host the inaugural Texas Nuclear Summit later this year. The event is scheduled to be held in Austin from November 17-19, 2024, with registration ongoing.

According to a May 30 press release issued by TNC, the summit aims to spearhead the advancement of nuclear energy within Texas and globally.

The summit is described as a significant milestone in efforts to propel Texas towards a future of clean, reliable energy generation by collaborating with the nuclear industry.

TNC President Reed Clay said in the release that the event will examine how nuclear energy can help address various issues facing the state, such as the electrification of the Permian Basin, artificial intelligence (AI) compute, and the staggering load growth forecasted by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).

TNC will hold the summit’s plenary session on November 18 and is expected to host industry leaders, policymakers, and advocates. The event aims to create a platform for nuclear energy ahead of the 2025 regular session of the Texas Legislature.

Dignitaries scheduled to speak at the event include Texas Energy Reliability Council Chair Nim Kidd, Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) Chairwoman Brooke Paup, Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUC) Commissioner Jimmy Glotfelty, Texas Senator Charles Perry (R-Lubbock), and Texas State Representative Cody Harris (R-Palestine), who serves as Vice Chair of the Texas Nuclear Caucus.
