In 2023, Texas welcomed over 56 million travelers from across the country and around the globe. In addition, more than 66 million Texan travelers embarked on overnight trips within their home state. According to Travel Texas, the travel and tourism industry plays a critical role in bolstering the Texas economy. It generated an economic impact of $193.8 billion last year while supporting 1.3 million jobs in Texas and contributing $72.9 billion in earnings. Travel and tourism generated over $9 billion in state and local taxes that funded public sector jobs including firefighters, police officers, and teachers.
