Texas State Rep. Salman Bhojani said it is important to foster good relationships across party lines to advance the interests of the state. Bhojani was a guest on a recent episode of the Texas Talks Podcast.

"I did staff appreciation day at the capital. We had puppies outside the capital for people to pet and popsicles to eat,” said Bhojani on a recent edition of the Texas Talks Podcast. “We did a lot of events  that would bring people together, regardless of their party affiliation. I think we can get pigeonholed in our party.”

“Texas is not about blue state or red state or party or this, that," said Bhojani. “It's just we all have different ways of getting to the solution, but we all want what's best for Texas. We have so much more in common. If you focus on that, we'll be united with one front and agenda, as opposed to talking about what we don't have in common because that's going to divide us more."

Bhojani is a Texas attorney specializing in real estate law, having previously worked at Haynes and Boone, LLP. He was Euless City Council's first minority member, later serving as Mayor Pro Tem, and in 2022, he became the first Muslim and South Asian elected to the Texas Legislature. He holds degrees from the University of Texas at Dallas and Southern Methodist University, along with a Comparative Law diploma from the University of Oxford.

Texas Talks podcast is hosted by Brad Swail. The weekly show is focused on public policy in the state of Texas, with insights from the people and organizations that influence it.

The podcast is available on Simple Cast and YouTube.
