Gov. Greg Abbott: 'Texas is the @bizfacilities 2023 State of the Year'

Greg Abbott, the Governor of Texas, announced that the state has been named the 2023 State of the Year by Business Facilities magazine. This recognition is attributed to Texas' rapid business growth and its dynamic workforce.

Abbott celebrated this achievement on social media, stating, "Texas is the @bizfacilities 2023 State of the Year! Thank you to the hardworking Texans, innovative business leaders, and state, local, and regional economic development partners who made this possible."

The National Governors Association notes that Abbott has been cultivating a strong reputation for some time. Since his election in 2019, he has been committed to building a better future for Texas. A graduate of the University of Texas in Austin and Vanderbilt University Law School, Abbott is currently serving his third term as governor.

The Office of the Texas Governor elaborated on why Texas was selected as this year's State of the Year. The state's thriving businesses and favorable work environment contributed significantly to this recognition. As Abbott stated, "Texas moves at the speed of business. As recognized by Business Facilities magazine, Texas leads the nation for corporate relocations, business expansions, and job creation. I am proud to celebrate Texas as the 2023 State of the Year alongside our state, local, and regional economic development partners, as well as the innovative industry leaders who call Texas home."

Business Facilities magazine reports that this is the fifth time that Texas has won this title. The state's economy has been flourishing over recent months with a GDP growth rate of 4.9%, more than double that of overall U.S growth. Adriana Cruz, Executive Director of Texas Economic Development and Tourism said: "As we look back over the events of 2023, it’s clear that our state’s many successes and record-breaking achievements are thanks to the strong economic development partnerships at statewide, regional and local levels in Texas."
