On Oct. 17, Senator Joan Huffman announced that she has been awarded the Broadband Champion Award by Connect the Future Texas. The award was given to Senator Huffman in recognition of her work in allocating $1.5 billion towards improving broadband expansion and Texas 9-1-1 infrastructure.

Connect the Future Texas is an organization dedicated to enhancing broadband internet access across Texas. The Broadband Champion Award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to increasing awareness and finding solutions to the lack of broadband connectivity. Governor Abbott was also a recipient of this award in August.
Senator Joan Huffman, who obtained her law degree from the South Texas School of Law, has been serving as a prosecutor for many years. She was elected to her Senate position in 2008 and has been reelected five times. Senator Huffman currently serves as the Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, the Special Committee on Redistricting, and the Committee on Criminal Justice. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her efforts in improving the lives of Texans, receiving awards such as the "2017 Hero for Texas Children," the "Big Voice for Little Texans," and the "Law and Order Award."
