Senator Tan Parker brings awareness to the work of Blake Pyron who has done work to help entrepreneurs who have disabilities be able to grow their businesses and their experience. "Let's honor folks like Blake Pyron driving Texas' prosperity!" Senator Parker stated.

Senator Parker shares that Oct. 17th is Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Day and brings attention to the work of Blake Pyron.

Blake Pyron is a young man who grew up with Down Syndrome and after the restaurant where he had been working at during high school closed soon after he graduated, he was inspired to create his own business. His determination paid off as he opened his very own shop in 2015 selling snowcones and named it Blake's Snow Shack. Because of the success of his business ventures, Pyron wanted to help others to do the same.

From this desire, Pyron decided to establish a scholarship to help others work for and achieve owning their own business. From this, he created the Blake Pyron Entrepreneurship Scholarship which, according to the scholarship's website, was established with the very goal to "[support] self-advocates as they pursue their dreams of owning their own business." The only criteria to be eligible for this $500 scholarship is to be at least eighteen years old and have Down Syndrome.

Senator Tan Parker who made the Platform X post bringing awareness to Pyron's work, is from Flower Mound, Texas and is himself an entrepreneur. He graduated from the University of Dallas and soon after from the London School of Economics. Parker served as a House member from 2007-2023 and now fills the role of Senator for District 12. Parker is an advocate for the "community and [fights] for common-sense, conservative policies that strengthen Texas’ prosperity," according to his official page on the State Senate's website.
