“Nazis are evil bigots,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) wrote on Twitter addressing President-elect Joe Biden after the latter labeled him and Sen. Hawley to be similar to the Nazis.
Sen. Cruz, still objecting to Biden’s comparison, stated that “unless they are genocidal, calling your political opponents Nazis is atrocious.”
Biden in an interview said the two senators are part of the 'big lie,' comparing them to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels who believed that if a lie is repeated enough, people will begin to believe it. He is blaming Cruz and other Republicans for the chaos during the joint session at the Capitol Building.
Cruz stated that Biden’s statement is dividing America.
“Really sad,” Cruz also wrote on Twitter. “At a time of deep national division, President-elect Biden’s choice to call his political opponents literal Nazis does nothing to bring us together or promote healing. This kind of vicious partisan rhetoric only tears our country apart.”
While some GOP senators changed their mind about objecting to the certification of President-elect Joe Biden's victory in the general election late Wednesday following the mayhem in the U.S. Capitol, Sen. Cruz was among Josh Hawley, Cindy Hyde-Smith, John Neely Kennedy, Roger Marshall, and Tommy Tuberville who objected to Biden’s Electoral College certification.
The rest of the senators are calling on Cruz and Hawley to resign.
