DPS Announces Featured Fugitive for May

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has identified Marcos Christopher Alonzo, a 46-year-old fugitive from Hutchins, as this month's Featured Fugitive. Alonzo has been wanted since February 2023 for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, following his conviction in 2005 for indecency with a child by contact.

According to DPS, Alonzo was also convicted in 2011 for failure to register as a sex offender. The agency described Alonzo as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 250 pounds, with tattoos on his head, neck, chest, and both arms.

The DPS has increased the reward for information leading to Alonzo's arrest to $4,000 for the month of May 2024. The reward is only applicable if the tip is received within this month.

Texas Crime Stoppers, funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards for information that results in the arrest of individuals on the state's Most Wanted lists. In 2024, DPS and other agencies have successfully apprehended 15 fugitives, including seven sex offenders and seven gang members.

For those wishing to provide information on Alonzo or any other fugitive, DPS has outlined three methods for submitting tips: calling the Crime Stoppers hotline, submitting a web tip through the DPS website, or using the Facebook tip submission option. The agency emphasizes that all tips will remain anonymous, and tipsters will receive a tip number instead of disclosing their identity.

DPS investigators collaborate with local law enforcement to select individuals for the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders Lists. The public is advised not to attempt to apprehend these fugitives as they are considered armed and dangerous. More information on Alonzo and updates on his case can be found on the DPS website."
