Governor Greg Abbott announced the appointment of Jason Boatright to the Texas Racing Commission for a term set to expire February 1, 2025. According to Abbott, Boatright brings a wealth of experience to the Commission as he currently serves as special counsel at Duane Morris LLP. Boatright is from Dallas. 

Boatright's background includes previous appointments by Governor Abbott to various other positions. He was appointed by the Supreme Court of Texas to the Texas Board of Disciplinary Appeals, served as a justice on the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals, and held positions on the boards of the Texas Department of Information Resources and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

Further, Boatright's educational achievements include receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Middlebury College, a postgraduate degree in Latin and Roman History from the University of Saint Andrews, and a Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law.

Boatright's appointment to the Texas Racing Commission is the latest of Governor Abbott's executive appointments. The Commission will oversee pari-mutuel wagering on horse and greyhound racing in Texas.
