The Texas Military Department (TMD) has responded to a social media post regarding the drownings of three migrants near Eagle Pass. The TMD was contacted by Border Patrol on Friday night about a migrant distress situation. However, after actively searching the river with lights and night vision goggles, no distressed migrants were observed.

"At no time did TMD security personnel along the river observe any distressed migrants, nor did TMD turn back any illegal immigrants from the US during this period," stated the TMD.

Furthermore, the TMD reported that they observed a group of Mexican authorities responding to an incident on the Mexico side of the river bank. The Mexican authorities confirmed that they did not require any additional assistance. As a result, the TMD ceased its search operations.

The TMD also clarified that they were not made aware of any bodies in the area of Shelby Park or any bodies being discovered on the U.S. side of the border in relation to this situation.

In their statement, the TMD emphasized their commitment to aiding migrants in need of medical care. They maintain water rescue equipment and actively collaborate with local EMS.

The Texas Military Department's mission is to provide ready and trained forces in support of the citizens of Texas and State and Federal civil/military authorities at home and abroad. It is commanded by the Adjutant General of Texas, who is appointed by the governor, and comprises the Office of State Administration, the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, and the Texas State Guard.
